The LSFRMPB is a place where students learn to play the pipes or drums, but also a place where they learn teamwork, camaraderie, and leadership, and have fun while doing it. Individual and band competition is an optional part of membership in the band, but musical instruction and group performance is the focus.

Youth between the ages of 8 and 18 may join the band as a beginner piper, snare drummer, tenor drummer or bass drummer. Beginner instruction is either individual or small group instruction, and all progress at their own pace. All instruction is free. Bagpipes and drums are provided when they are ready to use the instruments; beginners are required to purchase their own practice chanter or drumsticks and practice pads.

Prior to COVID-19, beginners practiced on Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 throughout the school year. Full members of the band practiced from 9:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays, and pipers had additional practices on Monday evenings. Practices were held at alternate locations. In addition to practicing, the band performed a number of times throughout the year.

Currently, we are operating online only on Saturday.

The band is always looking for new recruits. Please feel free to contact us.
